Our Story

Welcome to I Do’s With David! I’m David Greenspoon and founded I Do’s With David to serve couples who are secular or “spiritual but not religious” and seeking a customized, beautiful wedding ceremony filled with warmth, compassion, and just a touch of humor. I Do’s With David delivers deep interpersonal and pastoral skills, a refined appreciation for crafting beautiful and meaningful life-cycle ceremonies, and extensive experience officiating at life cycle events. Every couple will find a welcoming experience with I Do’s With David. We respect the human dignity of all our clients and treat everyone with respect and courtesy.

I Do’s With David is a US Navy veteran-owned, LGBTQ+ friendly, non-religious wedding officiant service based in Washington, D.C. and the larger DMV area, but travels nearly anywhere! Before founding I Do’s With David’s parent company, I spent a 25+ year career working as a member of the clergy, primarily serving in congregations. That service also included 7 years as a Navy Reserve Chaplain, beyond the 4 years I served during my enlistment before college.

Many couples are looking for either a secular celebration, or spiritual ceremonies not defined by any one faith tradition. Couples are regularly thrilled with beautiful ceremonies that are authentic to their values and needs that will be remembered for a lifetime.

License Signing Service for Virginia & District of Columbia
Some couples already have their own officiant for their ceremony but need a Commonwealth of Virginia or District of Columbia registered officiant. I Do’s With David is available to help such couples with legal registration of the marriage.

Renewal Ceremonies
The reasons for renewing the commitment of a relationship are as varied as the couples who seek them. Carving a specific spiritual response to each couple’s specific spiritual situation is part of what makes this service far more than a typical “renewal of vows.

Officiant Services & Rates

Full Ceremony
Officiation including 1 hour of planning meeting in 2 half-hour segments plus any required expenses. Extra sessions are available. $950
Micro Wedding
Officiation Weekday rates Mon.-Thurs includes one 1/2 hour planning meeting. Extra sessions are available. $500

The ‘Day Of’ service supports your choice of an unregistered officiant. We will arrange to meet and have your secular marriage license signed.

Will our ceremony be customized?

Absolutely! Each and every ceremony officiated by I Do’s With David is created to reflect your unique identity and values as a couple. You will share that in the course of our conversations, and see it come into form before the big day!

How do we meet?

The convenience of virtual meetings is unbeatable!

How do we pay you?

Electronic payments via Zelle are preferred. Please inquire for details or other options.

Do you offer or require couples to have premarital counseling?

I Do’s With David approach incorporates the wisdom of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator as part of preparing your ceremony. Using a free, online version of this tool will allow us to broach essential parts of your couple-hood as we work together. While encouraged, formal premarital counseling is not a requirement for your I Do’s With David wedding ceremony.

Do you travel?

Absolutely! All travel within an hour of Leesburg, VA is included as part of your service. Regional travel is anything within a two-hour car drive and presumes a three-hour round-trip minimum. See the price chart for more information about regional travel rates. National and international travel options are also available; the details are part of a larger conversation.

Do you have a PA system?

Yes, I Do’s With David has sound amplification for your ceremony covered! I Do’s With David has a smaller, wireless compact PA with Bluetooth and a stand that is perfect for smaller settings or where power is unavailable; a larger, wired Fender PA with speaker stands that can handle large outdoor events; wired mics and stands; and a wireless headset mic. The mics can also be connected into a system provided by a band or DJ.

How do we book?

After our initial complimentary session, a 50% initial payment and your signed and accepted proposal holds your date. The remaining cost, including any additional fee for weddings held more than one hour from Leesburg, VA is due 45 days before your ceremony.

Bookings less than 45 days from the ceremony require total payment up front. I am often available for last-minute bookings! Feel free to inquire if I can meet your scheduled needs.

Do you offer special rates for military members?

It is our privilege to honor active duty and active reserve military with a 10% discount for officiant services.
